Mt St Helens Epic Weekender, August 2020

79 miles, 11,861 feet elevation gain
3 days

We did this trip before this blog existed so details are sparse in our memory as we write this after the fact but one thing stands out for sure… it was grueling. We planned for the route to take us 5 days and there is no resupply so we carried 5 days worth of food with us. The route was extremely challenging but we still managed to surprise ourselves and finish in 3 days. We were exhausted but elated. As of the time of this writing (June 2023), we still look back on the moment we finished this route and both feel that it was the happiest we’ve ever been at a “finish line”… even including the Divide. We were so proud of ourselves to finish this thing. It was so hard. But incredibly beautiful with so many different ecosystems and interesting natural features resulting from the 1980 St Helens eruption. We highly recommend.

Our thanks to Bikepacking.com for this route.
